Dependent PR

A Dependent PR allows the family members of a primary applicant (such as a spouse, children, or dependent parents) to gain permanent residency in Canada. This status is usually granted when the primary applicant has already obtained or is in the process of obtaining Canadian permanent residency. Dependent PR applicants can enjoy the same benefits as the primary applicant, including access to healthcare, education, and the ability to work or study in Canada.

Who Can Be a Dependent for PR?

Eligible dependents include a spouse, common-law partner, dependent children (under 22 years old, or over 22 if financially dependent due to a disability), and in some cases, dependent parents or grandparents. The primary applicant must provide evidence that their family members are indeed eligible dependents as per Canadian immigration policies.
